| Do you know why you have speech/language time? If you are in a speech language group it is to work on one (or more) of the following: receptive language, expressive language, articulation, fluency, or voice. I'll explain each of these below: Receptive Language: This is what you can understand. It's things like understanding directions, remembering a long story, or being able to problem solve.
Expressive Language: This is all about what you say. It means staying on topic, asking good questions, and using lots of different vocabulary words. Articulation: This means you have trouble saying one or a few sounds correctly. Examples are if you have trouble with your "s" sound or "r" sound. Fluency: This means you have trouble keeping your speech smooth. Dysfluency is also called stuttering. Voice: Some students have trouble with their voice. Maybe it's too scratchy or maybe it's too low. You come to speech/language group for 3 weeks in a row. The next week will be your Independent Work Week. You will have an assignment to complete for me.
